Bette Midler posed with her look-a-like daughter Sophie von Haselberg as they attended a star-studded Halloween bash in New York City on Friday. The 80-year-old actress flashed a cheerful smile as both she and her daughter, 39, showed off their unique costumes at NYRP’s Hulaween Gala, which drew in other celebrities such as Cyndi Lauper. Midler shares her only daughter with husband and artist Martin von Haselberg, whom she tied the knot with in 1984. The mother daughter duo donned looks to fit the theme of the party which was Hulaween on Horror Reef: Monsters of the Deep. The Hocus Pocus star donned a shimmering gold dress that contained caped fabric that fell down behind her. A netted overlay was added around the neckline and had shell as well as starfish embellishments. For a finishing touch, the Golden Globe winner added a red netted hat on top of her head which contained a crab figure. A light blush was added to her cheekbones while a red satin tint was worn on her lips. Sophie additionally fit the party’s theme by sporting a dark green sequin gown that clung to her figure and contained a hood that concealed her locks. She added a coverup that was made of sparkling, gold-netted material and glued a variety of objects to the bottom to resemble bits of trash that can be found in the water. The star added light green face paint around her forehead and cheeks, while also opting for colorful dangly earrings. Shells were scattered on the overlay and a crab figure was also added onto her right shoulder to match with her famous mom. Midler and Sophie struck a variety of lighthearted poses as they made a rare appearance together ahead of Halloween. Sophie has since followed in her mother’s acting footsteps after graduating with a Bachelors in sociology and East Asian studies. ‘I probably wanted to be an actor when I was five, but I wouldn’t have told anybody because my mom would’ve gotten mad at me,’ she told Interview Magazine back in 2017. ‘It was in the back of my head – I always knew I was going to end up doing it – I just took a very circuitous path,’ Sophie said of pursuing an acting career. ‘I did school plays until I got to high school, and then I started dancing instead.
