Police have issued an arrest warrant for Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher, who appears to have skipped the country when he was due in an Australian court on choking and assault charges.Nathan Gallagher was listed to appear before Local Court Judge Janine Lacy on Tuesday, charged with assaulting and choking his co-star – and now ex-partner – Gael Cameron at her Sydney apartment last year.Ms Cameron arrived at Burwood Local Court, in the city’s inner west, to give evidence in a hearing. But when Gallagher was called and failed to appear, prosecutors told Judge Lacy they could not proceed.’We believe the defendant is offshore at this time,’ the prosecutor, Sergeant Aruzza, told the court. The prosecution recommended the matter be dealt with in Gallagher’s absence under a section of Crimes Act that allows the magistrate to issue a warrant from the bench for Gallagher to be brought before the court. Judge Lacy said immigration records showed Gallagher was ‘currently overseas’. She convicted him in his absence and issued a warrant for his arrest.Ms Cameron declined to comment about the case when approached outside the courthouse. The court heard that Gallagher was no longer represented by the lawyers he had been engaging until a few weeks ago. The Irish reality TV contestant, who was granted bail after spending a night in police cells after Christmas last year, does not have conditions that require him to report to police.Nor was he required to have surrendered his passport, despite his career in international yachting. NSW Police also took out an Apprehended Violence Order against Gallagher naming Ms Cameron as the protected person.Gallagher and Ms Cameron, 30, were in a relationship and have a one-year-old son together after meeting on the set of Below Deck Mediterranean’s Season 9 in mid-2024.Both were initially employed as deckhands on the luxury yacht crew show in Greece, before continuing their relationship in two more seasons as Gallagher was promoted to a position as ship’s bosun.NSW Police arrested the TV star on December 27 for allegedly assaulting Ms Cameron at an apartment complex in the north-western Sydney suburb of Melrose Park on the evening of Boxing Day last year.Ryde Police Area Command arrested him at 8.45am on December 27 after attending the Appleroth Street, Melrose Park high rise complex. Cameron arrived at court for the hearing but the man accused of assaulting and choking her, ex-partner Nathan Gallagher, was a no show Cameron, centre, with supporters outside court The couple met on Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean in mid-2024Gallagher was taken to Gladesville Police Station and appeared before a bail court on Sunday December 28, where he was granted conditional bail.Gallagher, who has pleaded not guilty to all three charges, has been on strict bail conditions including not to go near or contact Gael Cameron, not to drink alcohol or take any drugs, unless prescribed by a doctor.Gallagher is also facing assault allegations in his home country of Ireland at the same time.The charges against him in Australia were a secret until a Rolling Stone magazine article revealed them last month.Following its publication, Gallagher released his own statement saying that it was not ‘fair’ that one person’s account only had been portrayed to the public ‘as though it was the complete story’.He said he had ‘video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records which … I am willing to provide’.’There are also other matters surrounding the relationship that I have never discussed publicly, including circumstances surrounding the breakdown of our relationship, previous allegations she made about a former partner, and financial matters relating to the purchase of an apartment in Sydney.’Ms Cameron and Gallagher had several break-ups in their relationship which were detailed on the Below Deck Med Show.She confessed during a program sequel, the Below Deck Med After Show, she had started to ‘see a different side’ to Nathan when they were dating, and had witnessed ‘a little bit of anger, stubbornness and immaturity’.
