ARN has suspended one of its employees after it was revealed they had conducted some off-the-clock work for ex-employee Kyle Sandilands’ new show.Megan Hui, a promotions manager at ARN-owned Wollongong station Wave FM, recently sent an email to Kyle Sandilands Live staff discussing new advertising opportunities, as part of her off-the-books role.However, in an awkward blunder, Executive Producer Jaimee ‘Mayo’ Blazquez was seen reading the email on the show during a live cross-cut on Tuesday morning, which caught the attention of a journalist at Mumbrella, who reported it to ARN.ARN was reportedly unaware of the work Hui was conducting for Sandilands, and has now suspended her, pending an internal investigation.Many media contracts have a non-compete clause, meaning that an employee cannot do any paid or unpaid work for a direct competitor while working for their employer. The suspension comes at a particularly difficult time for Hui, coming just one day after an update she made on social media, announcing that she and her husband Matty Johnston were expecting their first child. Someone at another company got suspended because of that.’ He then made a pointed remark, alluding to how most of his current staff are former ARN employees, who moved with him following KIIS FM terminating his $100 million contract in March, after his fall-out with former co-star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. ‘Looks like I’m going to have to employ another f***ing person,’ he joked. Hui has been employed by ARN since January 2023, first as a promotions campaign specialist with KIIS FM until April this year, when she moved to Wave FM.She became close to Kyle during her time at KIIS and following her departure from the station, Hui shared a photo of them together on Instagram, writing that he was ‘the king’. ‘His tough exterior yet teddy bear centre and that exceptional talent he has of creating moments and his story telling is exceptional.
