This Morning star Angela Scanlon is taking over as host of Radio 2’s Drivetime show, replacing Sara Cox.The news – which the Irish presenter described as ‘properly exciting’ – was announced by Sara on this morning’s show.Angela, who will start in the 4pm-7pm slot in November, added: ‘Taking over Radio 2 Drivetime is properly exciting. Millions of people, all having completely different days, piling into the same conversation for a few hours – what a strange and lovely thing!’Sara announced she was leaving the Drivetime show after seven years in June to take over the Breakfast Show from sacked star Scott Mills, as part of a shake-up at the station.Angela has been a guest presenter on Radio 2 for eight years, making her debut in 2018. In 2024 she succeeded Graham Norton in Virgin Radio UK’s coveted Weekend Breakfast slot. This summer, Angela also hosted Drivetime shows on BBC Radio 2, alongside Joel Dommett, admitting it felt like ‘a live audition’ for the main job.She has made numerous BBC TV appearances, co-hosting the Eurovision coverage alongside Rylan Clark and fronting BBC Two’s The Apprentice: Unfinished Business. She also co-hosts her chart-topping weekly podcast Get A Grip, and has regular presenter slots on ITV’s This Morning.
