When it comes to Bake Off presenters with eye-catching haircuts, Noel Fielding tends to take the cake – but Alison Hammond gave him a run for his money as she appeared at London Fashion Week last night.The 51-year-old wore her hair in a large afro style as she walked down the catwalk in a glittering black maxi dress for sustainable fashion brand Vin + Omi.She was joined by her Great British Bake Off co-star Prue Leith, 86, and Jo Wood, 71, at the show, which took place at the art’otel Hoxton in east London.Ms Hammond had attended the show last year to support Ms Leith but decided to join in on this year for the brand’s latest collection, called Anarchy. The This Morning presenter put on a confident display as she showed off her 11-stone weight-loss in the glamorous gown. Ms Leith wore a huge red wig and a pair of oversized glasses with a white floral tulle dress, covered in multicoloured flowers.The British restaurateur – who stepped down from Bake Off last year – is a regular on the Vin + Omi catwalk, having appeared in five previous shows. She added that a pre-diabetes health warning pushed her to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Ms Hammond, who weighed 30 stone at her heaviest, began her weight-loss journey five years ago when she started working with a personal trainer to improve her fitness. Ms Wood wore a long v-neck black and silver stripe maxi dress with a pair of chunky black boots and dark eye make-up.Vin + Omi choose models who have a connection to environmentalism, creativity, music, television or activism, rather than simply hiring famous figures for publicity.Their 2021 Future Flowers show, for example, included Jo Wood as well as Olympic athletes Hannah Williams, Marcus Mepstead, Joe Choong and Stephanie Twell. The brand was launched in 2004 but the pair behind the brand describe themselves more as ‘ideologists’ than designers. Their aim is to use fashion as a way of making the public think about environmental and social issues.Ms Hammond will return to TV screens when Bake Off starts on September 22, with new judge Nigella Lawson taking Ms Leith’s place after she stepped down.
