Adolescence continues its winning streak as record-breaking Netflix show bags TRIC Award for Best Drama

Adolescence has bagged the Best Drama gong at the 2026 TRIC Awards on Tuesday, continuing its record-breaking winning streak.A host of celebrities braved the scorching heatwave for the annual ceremony, held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. Hosted by TRIC president Dan Walker, the event celebrates the biggest names in entertainment and featured a live performance from music legends Shalamar.The Netflix show, which was created by actor Stephen and writer Jack Thorne, tells the story of British teenager Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), who is found guilty of murdering a female classmate after being sucked in by the manosphere online. Each episode is filmed in one continuous shot and has been widely praised for addressing topics such as online radicalisation and misogyny. Owen Cooper, 16, has made history by becoming the youngest winner of the Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Globes, Emmy Awards and BAFTAs.While the cast failed to attend the ceremony, Adolescence triumphed over Call The Midwife, Death In Paradise and Slow Horses.BBC’s Celebrity Traitors, which saw 15M viewers tune in to see treacherous Alan Carr win £87K for charity, also nabbed the Best Game Show gong. If I’ve got to do book events, I’ll tie it in with something else.’I wish I’d learned the art of enjoying the moment sooner, that is something that I am really so much better at now. ‘And taking time and appreciating what’s around me and wanting to be home more, to be honest.
