Ryan Gosling made rare remarks about his two daughters as he revealed their sweet contribution to his new film.
Gosling, 45, stars in the upcoming film Project Hail Mary, a PG-13 movie in which he portrays a teacher who joins forces with an alien named Rocky to save their respective planets.
It’s the type of film the actor – who shares daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, nine, with partner Eva Mendes, 51 – would love to take his children to see.
‘I made this for them essentially,’ he told Access. ‘As a family, I’d like a movie like this that I’d like to see. I just feel really honored that I got to make one.’
Gosling has even run the film by his children, the ‘only critics’ he really cares for.
‘My kids have seen multiple cuts. They give me multiple notes. They’re basically the only critics I care about, and they are very critical and very honest,’ he said.
Gosling has been with Mendes since they fell in love on the set of their 2012 thriller The Place Beyond The Pines.
In 2023 the actor revealed he hadn’t planned on having a family until he met her.
‘I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her,’ he told GQ at the time.
In the magazine interview he discussed parenting with Mendes, and sweetly gushed that before meeting her, ‘I was looking for her, you know?’ adding that ‘it all makes sense now.’
While promoting his movie The Fall Guy in May 2024, Gosling told Extra about Mendes: ‘She is with the girls, and when she works, I stay home with the girls too.’
He added, ‘She’s also like my acting coach. She has really become the best acting coach I have ever had. It’s endless how she helps me.’
Back in 2022, Mendes seemingly revealed that both she and the actor had tied the knot when she referred to Gosling as her ‘husband.’
The actress regularly refers to her beau as ‘my man’ in interviews and on social media.
Last year the family of four moved overseas while the Notebook star was filming the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter.
‘They love the laid-back lifestyle in London,’ a source told Radar Online in December. ‘It’s easy for them to move around unrecognized there.’
According to insiders, the family has been living in an exclusive enclave popular with A-listers, with neighbors said to include the likes of Harry Styles, Jude Law and Emma Thompson.
On Valentine’s Day, Mendes promoted her partner’s new film in sexy fashion.
Mendes could be seen putting on a leggy display as she modeled a shirt to promote Gosling’s forthcoming film Project Hail Mary, which is set to release later this year on March 20.
The short-sleeved shirt had the words ‘Believe in the Hail Mary’ printed towards the top.
In the caption of the carousel of pictures, the mom-of-two penned: ‘For my Valentine.’
