Leigh-Anne Pinnock revealed husband Andre Gray went to therapy after he left her ‘heartbroken’ as she opened up about ‘losing trust and betrayal’ in her relationship.
The singer tied the knot with her footballer beau Andre, both 34, in June 2023 after welcoming their twins together in August 2021.
Now the former Little Mix star shared that things haven’t always been plain-sailing but due to Andre ‘wanting to change’ he went to therapy and they worked on their relationship.
Speaking to Paloma Faith on her Mad Sad Bad podcast, Leigh-Anne revealed she has been betrayed before.
She said: ‘I went through a bit of a weird time with my husband actually and I think that sort of not being totally honest and losing trust and that kind of betrayal.
‘I think like heartbreak is wild, like it’s awful and especially someone that you’re so madly in love with and that they can hurt you.’
The singer explained how footballer Andre realised he was being ‘selfish’ after he moved abroad to Greece to play for Aris Thessaloniki.
She continued: ‘Well, I think that person has to want to change and he did.
‘And I think you can go through things in relationship, but if they aren’t willing to change for you, forget it.
‘They have to do the work and they have to turn it around because again it’s not you, it’s not on you.
‘He went to therapy and I think for us what really helped for us, he started playing abroad and he had more time to himself to kind of look and realise that everything that he was doing was not how you make a relationship work, it’s not. It’s selfish.’
Leigh-Anne first addressed that her husband Andre had ‘broke her heart’ in the early days of their relationship in a TikTok video in June 2024.
Leigh-Anne revealed that she ‘learnt the power of forgiveness’ as the footballer ‘went out of his way to change for her’.
When asked what she learnt about her last heartbreak, Leigh-Anne admitted she is still with the person who broke her heart.
She said: ‘I learnt the power of forgiveness. I’m still with the person who broke my heart and he went out of his way to change for me.
‘I think if you can actually get to the other side and make it through it, it makes it all worthwhile.
‘Some people might say, oh well why are you still with them? or why are you still giving them another chance? I guess that can be seen as a weakness and not putting yourself first but I think only you know what is truly right for you.’
Leigh-Anne went onto say the couple got through the ‘struggles’ and now they are in a ‘really beautiful place’.
She continued: ‘If that person can really show that they want to change, you cannot change somebody but if they go out of their way to change themselves I really do think that kind of tells you everything you need to know.
‘For me personally I had to go through these struggles and things in our relationship to get to the point where we are now, which is a really beautiful place.’
The Don’t Say Love songstress also added that it is ‘OK’ to forgive someone and it doesn’t have to come across as ‘a weak thing to do’ as it can be ‘healing’.
Leigh-Anne said: ‘It is OK to give somebody another chance but it isn’t OK to let somebody take the piss out of you.
‘Make sure you have those barriers up to protect yourself and to know when enough is enough.
‘It takes being hurt to sort of build that armor up to be like, I’m not going through that again. Don’t see forgiveness as a weak thing to do, it can be a really powerful and healing thing.’
Elsewhere in the chat with Paloma, Leigh-Anne claimed her ‘brutal’ former record label ghosted her after a ‘fallout’ before she was dropped by them.
The singer, 34, first signed to Warner Records in 2022 after going solo but last year got dropped.
She is now in full control of her music and releasing independently with Virgin Music Group, with her debut album My Ego Told Me To releasing this year.
But she has now reflected on the turbulent year she faced before going independent, claiming Warner effectively ‘ghosted’ her before they parted ways.
She lifted the lid on leaving the label – and claimed the ‘head’ hung up the phone on her so she never got an explanation as to why she was being dropped.
‘I had a fallout with my label, and basically left them,’ she said. ‘It was crazy; they weren’t responding to us, basically ghosting. It was wild…
‘When you actually deep it, it’s like, how could you do that to someone? The head [of the label] actually rang and then exited the call after two rings, so I actually haven’t ever had an explanation.
‘So that was quite brutal.’
She added: ‘When I look back on my early solo career, I was doing good. I don’t feel like it was my issue. It was them.
‘All it would have taken was a phone call at least. But yeah that was a really weird period, so I left, went independent the next year.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Warner Records for comment.
The former Little Mix star has already released several singles and her debut album is due for release in February 2026.
