Gordon Ramsay followed in his swimmer son-in-law Adam Peaty’s footsteps as he hit the pool while training for an Ironman.

Olympic swimmer Adam officially joined the Ramsay family after tying the knot with chef Gordon’s daughter Holly on December 27.

And Adam’s tight bond with his father in law has been a hot topic of conversation since the bitter fallout with his own family was revealed.

Now Gordon, 59, is seemingly taking swimming inspiration from his son-in-law, who has won three Olympic gold medals in breaststroke events.

Gordon headed to the pool over the weekend in preparation for undertaking an Ironman – an endurance race consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.22-mile marathon run in a single day.

Taking to his Instagram Story on Saturday, Gordon shared a shirtless picture of himself in his swimming trunks at the pool inside the Toronto Athletic Club, Canada.

Showing he was training for the Ironman later this year in Costa Navarino in Peloponnese, Greece, Gordon posted a video of his branded swimming cap for the race.

Gordon also shared a photo of his fitness watch which showed he had swam 2000m in 33 minutes.

In another striking connection, Adam bore a strong resemblance to his new father-in-law when he married wife Tana in 1996.

Gordon, now 59, was 30 years old when he tied the knot, just a year younger than Adam, 31, now.

The two men had quite similar looks on their respective wedding days with Gordon sporting an almost identical hairstyle to Adam’s current quiff.

Adam opted for a traditional tuxedo while Gordon sported grey trousers with a matching waistcoat and striped tie.

The celebrity chef recently revealed that Adam calls him ‘dad’ amid the fall out with his parents.

She told how he feels like he’s gained a son in Adam thanks to him marrying Holly rather than losing a daughter.

Should parents always be included in their children’s big life moments, no matter the circumstances?

He told Gaby Roslin’s Reasons To Be Joyful podcast: ‘He calls me dad. He messaged me and said “Hey dad, what have you got? Hey dad, are you around later?”

‘And it’s just like, “Oh my God”. Incredible. And what a lovely couple. They are a dream for Tana and I.’

In a sign of their close bond, Gordon publicly threw his support behind his new son-in-law.

Adam declared he would ‘always choose’ his wife as he delivered an emotional speech, prompting Gordon to publicly show his love and support.

The groom appeared visibly emotional at the altar, wiping away tears as Holly was given away by her father.

Gordon commented beneath the video: ‘Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty @hollyramsaypeaty True Love ?? congratulations love you both so much Dad ??’

It comes after Adam’s aunt slammed the swimmer in the wake of news he is calling Gordon ‘Dad’ amid his ongoing family feud.

The Peaty family have suffered a dramatic fall-out since it was revealed in November that Adam had banned his family – including mother Caroline and father Mark – from his December wedding to Gordon’s daughter Holly, 26.

As the feud rages on, Gordon, who has just unveiled his Netflix documentary featuring the Olympian, revealed Adam has started calling him ‘Dad’ – something Caroline’s sister Louise Williams branded ‘toadying behaviour’.

In a lengthy rant on Threads, Louise discussed the sacrifices made by bricklayer Mark, who she said ‘worked his hands raw and bleeding’ to pay for his swimming.

She wrote: ‘Oh Adam your poor dad. How could you? That man literally worked his hands bloody in order that you could pursue your dream…

‘He worked long long days as a brickie – a hard laborious back breaking job.

‘He did it without moan or complaint.’
