Sixers' Joel Embiid cried after his injury 3 weeks ago | 'I just knew it was something worse than what what we saw'

Philadelphia -- When Sixers center Joel Embiid came down awkwardly on his knee in the Mar.

Sitting in the locker room and having tears in his eyes, a frustrated Embiid thought he had let his teammates down.

As he jogged onto the floor, the 3,071 people in the Wells Fargo Center rose out of their seats and began chanting “MVP” repeatedly.

“I’m glad that it wasn’t anything bad, and I’m able to get back on the court and help the team go on a championship run,” Embiid said.

Embiid put up a decent performance, playing 29 minutes in his first game back, scoring 24 points, and grabbing eight rebounds in the Sixers’ 122-113 win.

We turned the ball over a little bit, and we didn’t execute very well down the stretch of the game.
