Notebook: David Robinson to present Tim Duncan at Hall of Fame; Spurs commend LaMarcus Aldridge

The Class of 2020, regarded as one of the greatest ever, will be inducted at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., after last year’s ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic.

Former Kentucky and Arkansas coach Eddie Sutton, who will be inducted posthumously, will be presented by John Calipari, Bill Self and Sidney Moncrief.

Aldridge, 35, played five-plus seasons with the Spurs before they amicably parted ways last month in a buyout that allowed the seven-time All-Star to sign with the Brooklyn Nets in pursuit of a career-capping championship ring.

“LaMarcus Aldridge enjoyed a wonderful NBA career,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said in a statement the club tweeted.

Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray, who developed a strong bond with Aldridge during their three-plus seasons together, offered a heartfelt message via Twitter that included several pictures of the two together.

The two greatest players in Spurs history will be together again when David Robinson presents Tim Duncan for his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on May 15.
