Detroit Pistons extend Tyler Cook for remaining 21 games; non-guaranteed option for next season

A league source confirmed that the team signed the former Iowa Hawkeye to a standard contract for the remaining 21 games of the season.

“I mean, he’s a guy that’s gonna come in every day rebounder, screener, defender, athletic, brings it, just love his energy.

He has also had the help of Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee, who he spent time with when the three played with the Denver Nuggets, to get him up to speed.

The 23-year-old has made 10 appearances with the Pistons and in Monday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, he scored a career-high nine points.

“He can play power forward or center; he’s smart and he picks things up quickly and he’s physical and athletic.

“To his credit, he’s picked up everything we’ve done, and that’s one of the reasons why he’s ahead of the curve and we feel comfortable putting him in the game.”
