Chipotle will introduce the Quesadilla as its first customizable digital-only menu item on Mar.
The Quesadilla is made in Chipotle's Digital Kitchen, which was introduced last year and does not include a dining room and front service line.
The Quesadilla is also the first customizable entrée Chipotle adds to its menu since it introduced a salad option 17 years ago.
“We’re so excited to answer the call from fans and introduce one of the most highly anticipated menu items in our brand’s history,” said Chris Brandt, Chipotle's Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement.
The Quesadilla is made with Monterey Jack Cheese, and customers can choose between chicken, steak, carnitas, barbacoa, sofritas, or fajita veggies for their protein.
The company conducted the pilot in Cleveland and Indianapolis, where it utilized its Digital Kitchen.
