Why Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles snubbed Leicester and Southampton for West Brom

Sam Allardyce has saluted Ainsley Maitland-Niles for choosing a relegation fight with West Brom over a Premier League title tilt with Leicester .

The versatile England international was a wanted man on deadline day in the January window with Arsenal allowing him to leave on loan until the end of the season.

Maitland-Niles wants minutes on the pitch to boost his chances of England involvement at the delayed 2020 Euro's in the summer.

He joins West Ham's Robert Snodgrass, Celta Vigo's Turkish international midfielder Okay Yokuslu and Senagalese striker Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray as the Baggies new arrivals.

And Albion fans will be hoping they mirror the impact of Big Sam's January signings at Sunderland in 2016 which spurred the Black Cats to beat relegation when they looked in real trouble.
