Sarah Thomas made history at the Super Bowl LV by becoming the first female referee in the NFL's biggest game.

It had no place for people of colour and certainly not women, so Sarah Thomas's appointment as the first woman ever to officiate a Super Bowl became quite a spectacular event.

Talking about the historic moments, NFL's executive vice president of football operations, Troy Vincent said in a statement: "Sarah Thomas has made history again as the first female Super Bowl official.

Before Super Bowl, the 47-year-old made another mark in the history by becoming the first woman to referee full-time in the NFL in 2015.

She made her regular-season debut when the Houston Texans hosted the Kansas City Chiefs on September 13, 2015.
