Stephanopoulos expressed Strahan’s thanks to GMA viewers for their concern, but affirmed that the NFL Hall of Famer is “feeling well and looking forward to being back here shortly.”
He emphasized: “You should know that all of us here — both in front of the camera and behind the scenes — have been cleared by Disney to be here after contact tracing and following CDC guidelines.””
He believes he contracted the virus from caring for his wife, Ali Wentworth, who had also tested positive.
TMZ first reported the news of Strahan’s COVID-19 diagnosis, after fans noticed his absence from GMA.
Strahan’s positive test comes as the United States continues to experience surges of the virus and discovery of new strains across the country, while vaccines are gradually distributed to frontline healthcare workers and high-risk individuals.
The former New York Giants legend also owns his own production company SMAC Entertainment, in addition to co-founding the Emmy Award-winning media company Religion of Sports , alongside partners NFL quarterback Tom Brady and filmmaker Gotham Chopra.
