Is Horse Racing cancelled? Will Horse Racing continue in lockdown?

Britons are only allowed to leave home for essential reasons such as buying groceries, caring for someone, attending work or for one portion of exercise per day.

Announcing the lockdown on Monday Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned the number of Covid-19 patients in English hospitals is 40 percent higher than the first peak.

Announcing a third national lockdown last night, Mr Johnson said: "We now have a new variant of the virus and it has been both frustrating and alarming to see the speed with which it is spreading.

"The weeks ahead will be the hardest yet but I really do believe that we're entering the last phase of the struggle, because with every jab that goes into our arms we're tilting the odds against Covid and in favour of the British people."

A statement from the BHA read: “Following this evening’s broadcast, we can confirm racing will continue behind closed doors during the upcoming national lockdown.

“Only individuals essential to staging the fixtures should attend race meetings and are required to continue to follow the strict protocols already in place.
