Heat's Butler, Dragic, Iguodala out vs. Clippers; Tyler Herro returns

Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic remained sidelined for the Miami Heat for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers at AmericanAirlines Arena, but the team got guard Tyler Herro back after a seven-game absence due to neck spasms.

“He had a great workout [Wednesday] and his body responded really well this morning,” coach Erik Spoelstra said of Herro, who last had played in the Jan. 14 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

As for Butler, he was upgraded earlier Thursday to questionable but then formally was listed as out on the NBA’s 5:30 p.m. injury report, making it 10 consecutive games missed in the league’s pandemic protocols.

Butler is the lone remaining Heat player in the protocols, after guard Avery Bradley returned in Wednesday night’s loss to the visiting Denver Nuggets following an eight-game absence due to COVID-19.

The Heat previously had six other players in the NBA’s pandemic protocols, with Bam Adebayo, Dragic, Moe Harkless, Udonis Haslem, KZ Okpala and Kendrick Nunn each missing two games two weeks ago due to contact tracing.

— Guard Max Strus, who has not missed time this season due to injury, was listed as questionable with a left wrist contusion at midday, before also being cleared.
