After going 4-2 and averaging 118.5 points in the previous six games, Friday night’s 102-81 loss to the New York Knicks felt like a step back for the up-and-coming Cavaliers.
The Cavs posted their season-low in points at Madison Square Garden after scoring just 86 against the Knicks in a Dec. 29 home defeat.
Asked how the Cavs can get back on track, point guard Darius Garland said, “That's the one good thing about the NBA, there’s so many games ... We have to come in with that attitude like, ‘We lost to the Knicks again.’
Forward Larry Nance Jr. returned after missing two games with a sprained right wrist, but was not himself, hitting 1 of 9 field goals.
Center Jarrett Allen and forward Taurean Prince played their sixth games with the Cavs after being acquired in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.
About the only thing the Cavs did well on Friday was rebound, with Andre Drummond pulling down 15, Allen nine and Nance eight as they claimed a 43-41 edge on the boards.
