Boston brass 'loves the passion' of WooSox fans as inaugural season nears

By Joe McDonald | Telegram & Gazette StaffThe Worcester Red Sox booster club held an entertaining Zoom call with fans Monday night that included chairman and principal owner Larry Lucchino, along with Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer, Chaim Bloom.

The biggest takeaway from the discussion is that Bloom and the Red Sox are thrilled for the city of Worcester and the WooSox as they are set to embark on the inaugural season at Polar Park.

Bloom plans on rebuilding the Sox’ farm system, which ultimately should equal success in Boston, similar to the World Series teams of 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018.

• Red Sox outfield prospect Jarren Duran was named the MVP of the Puerto Rican Winter League final series on Monday.

• An interesting question from a fan during the Zoom asked Bloom if the Red Sox would consider playing an exhibition game at Polar Park after spring training and before the regular season begins.

It was a perfect winter night for the Worcester Red Sox booster club to host a hot stove baseball discussion and it did not disappoint.
