“Clarice”: Hannibal Definitely Will Not Appear in 'Silence of the Lambs' Sequel Series from CBS

According to Entertainment Weekly , the “Clarice” series can’t show or even mention Hannibal Lecter by name, which exec producer Alex Kurtzman says has been freeing.

The De Laurentiis Company owns the rights to the character of Hannibal but not the Silence of the Lambs story/characters, so just don’t expect any Hannibal/Clarice interactions in the future.

The previously announced cast also includes Michael Cudlitz as Paul Krendler, Lucca de Oliveira as Tomas Esquivel, Kal Penn as Shaan Tripathi, Nick Sandow as Agent Clarke, Devyn Tyler as Ardelia Mapp and Marnee Carpenter as The Silence of the Lambs character Catherine Martin.

The series is a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling, as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high stakes political world of Washington, D.C.”

Her complex psychological makeup comes from a challenging childhood, and her drive comes from her need to escape the burden of family secrets that have haunted her throughout her life.”

Elizabeth Klaviter (“The Resident”) will show-run “Clarice,” working alongside writers/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet .
