The Whitecaps snapped a four-game losing streak and swept the season series with RSL after beating the Cobalt and Claret 2-1 on Saturday night at Providence Park in Portland.

A third of the team’s wins this season — two — have come against Salt Lake, and it was Lucas Cavallini returning from suspension to score the winner for the Whitecaps (6-11-0).

The Whitecaps have been outscored 14-3 during their five games, but avoided their first five-game losing streak since June 29 to July 27, 2018, a stretch that didn’t include a Canadian Championship loss to Cavalry FC.
