LeBron James Closes on Katharine Hepburn's Former Compound

In July, reports surfaced that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was in contract to buy a Beverly Hills estate previously owned by the late Lee Phillip Bell, the cocreator of soap operas like The Young and the Restless .

It is unclear exactly what was done to the property over the years to result in the $33.9 price jump, but Variety reports that Bell and her husband upgraded it and installed plenty of landscaping on the 2.5-acre plot.
