The Yankees hit rock bottom and then the Blue Jays ripped the floor out

Chad Green and Adam Ottavino blew a four-run lead and let the Blue Jays’ offense explode for a 12-7 win at Sahlen Field Monday night.

The Yankees (21-20) came into this series clinging to their playoff hopes and trailing the Blue Jays (23-18) by a game for second place in the American League East.

Home runs from Luke Voit, Hicks and Miguel Andujar as well as a two-run double from Clint Frazier had the Yankees with a four-run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Chad Green only recorded one out to start the sixth, allowing four runs — three earned thanks to a fielding error by Voit — on one hit and two walks.

Monday night, the friendly confines of Sahlen Field, the home of the Blue Jays’ Triple-A team in normal times, should have been a salve for what is ailing the Yankees of late.

Montgomery held that lead and allowed the Yankees to pile on two more runs in the top of the fifth on Frazier’s sharp line drive double to the corner in left.
