After Casey Mize loses no-hitter, Tigers lose game to Sox: Recap, box score

The Tigers (20-24) lost ground in the chase for the final American League wild card spot and are now 3 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees (24-21), who swept a doubleheader on Friday.

Tigers reliever Jose Cisnero, who replaced Mize, hit Tim Anderson with a pitch and then allowed a three-run homer to Eloy Jimenez.

Bottom 8th : The White Sox got two runners on base, but relievers Gregory Soto and Buck Farmer combined to keep Chicago’s lead to one run.

Bottom 2nd: Casey Mize issued a lead-off walk to Edwin Encarnacion, but quickly erased the base runner with a double play and got Luis Robert to chase a high fastball for the third out.

Top 2nd: Jorge Bonifacio and Austin Romine drew walks, but Lucas Giolito picked up two more strikeouts and Isaac Paredes flied out to center field to end the inning.

Bottom 1st: Casey Mize retired the side in order on seven pitches, getting three quick groundouts from Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez and Jose Abreu.
