Check Out NASA's Mesmerizing One-Hour Timelapse Of The Sun

The Solar Dynamics Observatory is a NASA space probe that was launched back in 2010 on February 11.

According to NASA, this information has facilitated astronomers in making various discoveries about the inner workings of our Sun and their effect on the solar system.

NASA’s 10-year timelapse video consists of images of the Sun’s corona, the outermost atmospheric layer captured at the wavelength of 17.1 nanometers.

The video features a custom soundtrack, ‘Solar Observer’ which was composed by musician Lars Leonhard.

The accompanying NASA article explains that the “dark frames in the video are caused by Earth or the Moon eclipsing SDO as they pass between the spacecraft and the Sun.

A longer blackout in 2016 was caused by a temporary issue with the AIA instrument that was successfully resolved after a week.”
