Google releases surprise new Chrome extension that has one handy feature

The Google-made Chrome extension was released earlier this week, and has a very specific function that will make sharing articles much easier.

"When opening such a special link, a compatible browser will scroll the selected text into view and highlight it."

Once you have created the link via the Chrome extension you might notice that the URL looks slightly unusual, a post by ArsTechnica revealed.

The release of the deep linking Chrome extension wasn't the only big news for users of the browser this week.

It was also revealed that Google has removed 106 extensions from the Chrome Web Store that were caught collecting sensitive data.

These extensions were able to - among other things - take screenshots, harvest authentication cookies and grab keystrokes letting them capture user passwords.
