Game in numbers: Allan Saint-Maximin doubles up for Newcastle


Newcastle United Allan Saint-Maximin yesterday became the first player for 15 seasons to score home and away in one league campaign against a goalkeeper born on the same day.


He and Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson were both born on March 12, 1997.


The previous case was Paul Hayes of Scunthorpe United scoring home and away against Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper John Danby in 2004-05.


Saint-Maximin specialises in quirky goals – his only other league strike for Newcastle, in March, made him the first Saint to score against the Saints (Southampton) since Ian St John in 1966.
