Cleveland Indians' season opener will be missed, but there's a bigger job at hand

They came close to making it before Commissioner Rob Manfred wisely delayed the start of the year and suspended spring training on March 12 because of the coronavirus.

There was a video on Twitter Wednesday of Indians pitchers Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac playing catch on a street in Florida.

The snow was so bad that the Indians were forced to play their next home series at Milwaukee’s domed Miller Park from April 10-12 against the Angels.

My lasting impression of the April 7 snow-out was Brandon Koehnke’s valiant grounds crew charging again and again onto the field to try and blow the snow off the grass with leaf blowers.

Before the game, Bobby DiBiasio, Indians executive director of public relations, was warming up President Bill Clinton in the batting cage.

President Clinton took the field to throw out the first pitch wearing the politically correct block C on his cap instead of the Tribe’s Chief Wahoo.
