Senators' Scott Sabourin leaves ice on stretcher after collision with Bruins' David Backes


Ottawa Senators forward Scott Sabourin falls to the ice after being knocked unconscious as a result of a hit with Boston Bruins forward David Backes.


Everyone at TD Garden on Saturday night got a reminder of the danger present within every game of hockey.


During first period action between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins, Senators forward Scott Sabourin hit Bruins forward David Backes.


Unable to brace himself as he fell, his face hammered the ice.


After an extended delay, Sabourin was taken off on a stretcher and gave the crowd a thumbs up.


According to Greg Millen of Hockey Night in Canada , Sabourin is responsive and has movement in his extremities.
