R. Kelly's legal troubles sparked a 'roller coaster of emotion' for his ex-wife

My phone is like, ‘buh-beep buh-beep buh-beep.’ I’m like, what is going on?” Andrea Kelly said on Thursday’s Season 3 premiere of “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta.” “These past few months, ugh, have been a roller coaster of emotion.”

Andrea Kelly and the three children she shares with the 52-year-old Grammy winner, whom she divorced more than a decade ago, joined the WE TV series this season.

The premiere comes as R. Kelly faces an assortment of sex-related charges in Cook County, and a new book paints him as an unhygienic predator who has abused dozens of girls and women since at least the early 1990s.

The South Side native, born Robert Kelly, this month pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of sexual assault and abuse of an underage girl.

Kelly also faces separate indictments charging he sexually abused two other underage girls and an adult woman years ago.

“Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta,” which also follows the drama of rappers such as Bow Wow and Waka Flocka Flame, airs at 8 p.m. Thursdays.
