Yankees acquire Kendrys Morales, who once did something really stupid. Remember this? (VIDEO)

The first baseman/designated hitter, who the Yankees acquired in a trade with the Oakland Athletics late Tuesday night, is best known for a walk-off grand slam against the Seattle Mariners in 2010.

New York Yankees' Aaron Boone explained the team's acquisition of 36-year-old slugger Kendrys Morales on Wednesday.

The injury required surgery, forcing him to miss the remainder of what was a promising 2010 season, as well as the entirety of the 2011 campaign.

He was dealt to the Seattle Mariners, the team against whom his defining moment occurred, and things went full circle.

Morales overcame the injury to build a respectable MLB career at six different stops, averaging .267 while hitting 212 home runs and 735 RBI through 13 seasons.

Morales earned a Silver Slugger and the Edgar Martinez Award, recognizing him as the best designated hitter in the American League.
