Ouch! Auburn's Tim Locastro hit by 3 pitches in 1 game, ties MLB record

Arizona Diamondbacks' Tim Locastro, from left, celebrates with Ketel Marte, center, and Blake Swihart after the Diamonbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants in a baseball game in San Francisco, Friday, May 24, 2019.

Auburn’s Tim Locastro went into the Major League Baseball record books Friday the hard way: three hit by pitches in one game.

Locastro got plunked three times in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 18-2 win over San Francisco.

It ties a major-league record set many times by such players as Manny Ramirez, Mel Ott and Nomar Garciaparra.

Locastro, a star at Auburn High School and Ithaca College, was just called up from the minors earlier in the day, the third time he’s been promoted by the Diamondbacks this season.

Christmas Eve day is traditionally the time when Locastro takes the first batting practice of his off-season.
