No host at Oscars: ABC chief says they don't want to mess with the format

The biggest award night of the entertainment world went live without a host for the first time but that did not affect the thrill in fans when the names of winners were announced.

From Lady Gaga's first-ever Oscar victory to Hannah Beachler and Ruth E. Carter's historical win for black women, this year's trophies had some new names carved on them.

Set in 1962, it's based on a true story of a tour of the Deep South by African-American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley played by Mahershala Ali.

Earlier, the movie won the People's Choice Awards at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year.

The Mexican drama, this year's best director award winner tells, is a brilliant tale of love and sacrifice through a lens which Hollywood usually ignores.

After delivering a scintillating performance of 'Shallow' from 'A Star Is Born', Lady Gaga climbed the stage again to grab her Oscar for the best original song.
