As Trey Burke Enters Free Agency, His Future With The Dallas Mavericks Becomes Uncertain

ASSOCIATED PRESSWith $52.2 million in practical cap space available this summer, the Dallas Mavericks will be buyers when free agency begins at 12:01 a.m. EST on July 1.

Dallas is looking for players to surround its budding star, Luka Doncic, to usher in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era.

This is the second in a series that examines each of those players individually, looking at their production on the floor, their previous contract, their salary cap holds and potential future with the Mavericks.

Although Burke’s time with the Mavericks was brief, he was able to carve out a spot in the rotation and give the team solid contributions off the bench.

For teams like the Mavericks, who are trying to find a mix of veteran savvy and youth, Burke presents a possibly intriguing addition.

If the Mavericks are to retain Burke this summer, it will likely mean that they are parting ways with one or more of the guards who came off the bench for them this season.
