Anthony Rizzo is back in the Cubs lineup Friday vs. Max Scherzer and the Nationals

The Cubs offense hopes to receive a much-needed lift Friday night with the return of Anthony Rizzo .

Rizzo, who missed the last four games because of back stiffness, will look to provide a spark against the Nationals and three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer .

Rizzo is a lifetime .267 hitter (4-for-15) against Scherzer.

Kyle Schwarber , who is 1-for-11 on this trip, will lead off for the second consecutive game.

Cole Hamels needs one strikeout to move into sole possession of 40th place on the all-time list.

Hamels is tied with fellow left-hander Mark Langston (2,464), and his next strikeout will move him into sole possession of ninth among lefties.
