WATCH: Meteor appears to light up DC

A meteor appeared to light up both D.C.’s sky and Twitter on Tuesday evening.

Former Apple executive Steve Chazin said the meteor was visible in Washington at approximately 10:57 p.m. Tuesday night.

“Just saw a massive meteor fall from the sky with a green flame due east from Montgomery County Maryland falling across the sky from north to south,” Twitter user Bobby Mozumder tweeted Tuesday evening.

“Did anyone in the Ellicott city Maryland area just see a long green meteor type thing fly down from the sky just now.

I’m shaken up from seeing it right now,” another Twitter user, Amy Marie Nash, tweeted Tuesday.

The annual Lyrid meteor shower, which started Tuesday and is expected to peak early next week, often bring fireballs to the skies.
