Cubs Roster Moves: Bote to Paternity List, Rosario Recalled, Russell to Iowa, Lester Nearing Return

Corey Freedman April 23, 2019As the Cubs get ready to start their series with the Dodgers at Wrigley Field Tuesday night, we’ve got some roster housekeeping to take care of.

The most obvious was David Bote being placed on the paternity list after his wife gave birth to their third child, a son named Sullivan.

Nothing official has been announced, but Thursday’s starter is still TBD and the timing sets up perfectly with Lester’s simulated game on Saturday morning.

Russell has been in Mesa at extended spring training and is eligible to play in the minors a week prior to the end of his 40-game suspension for violating the MLB’s joint domestic violence policy.

After spending several years working for multiple MLB teams, he decided it was time to turn baseball back into a passion rather than a career.

In between making content for Cubs Insider and being a professional Instagrammer, you can find him in Section 220, blissfully enjoying the season tickets he and his father spent 10 years on the waiting list for.
