Clark ahead as Singh rallies

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida — Wyndham Clark birdied five of his first seven holes and hung on for a one-stroke lead as Fiji veteran Vijay Singh stormed into contention in the third round of the Honda Classic Saturday.

Rickie Fowler was two shots behind Clark on 205 after shooting a 66, with six players another stroke behind including first round leader Jhonattan Vegas (69).

Clark, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, got off to a sizzling start, but cooled as the 25-year-old suffered bogeys on the ninth, 13th and 15th holes.

Rising Australian talent Zach Murray held his nerve to complete an end-to-end win in the New Zealand Open at Queenstown Sunday.

The 21-year-old rookie fired a final round four-under 68 to finish on 21-under and two strokes clear of fellow Australian Ashley Hall and New Zealand’s Josh Geary at the Millbrook Resort course.

One stroke back were Australian Brad Kennedy and Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino and Ryuko Tokimatsu who were tied for fifth.
