Kyrie Irving out for Celtics vs. Pistons; Terry Rozier doubtful

It could be the Brad Wanamaker show at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

Kyrie Irving won't play in the Boston Celtics' game against the Detroit Pistons as he recovers from a right knee strain, the team announced Wednesday.

He has also been ruled out with an illness, which leaves Wanamaker as the Celtics' only active point guard.

Boston also could turn to Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown as ball-handlers in the backcourt.

Irving is slated to play in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game alongside ex-teammate LeBron James , but his knee injury could throw a wrench in those plans, and C's fans probably are hoping he uses the extra time to get back to full strength.
