Redmi Note 7 is almost water resistant, but you should still be careful

It was, therefore, imperative, that Xiaomi's engineering team would give all the beans to create a one-of-its-kind device in the affordable price brackets.

Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun discussed some of the efforts that went into making the Redmi Note 7 and one of them is waterproofing.

In a video shared by Lei Jun on Weibo, the Xiaomi CEO tears apart a Redmi Note 7 and starts showing all the watertight seals inside the device, The Redmi Note 7 features watertight seals around all the buttons on its edges, the SIM card tray, headphone jack and charging port.

The camera module also features watertight seals around its edges to reduce the chances of water ingress.

The Redmi Note 7 is presently only selling in China and a Pro variant with a more powerful 48-megapixel camera module is slated to make an appearance later in the year.

Going by the trends, Xiaomi could end up offering the Redmi Note 7 Pro in markets outside China such as India and other European countries.
