Nuggets' shooting freezes in desert against Suns

The Nuggets threatened numerous times to keep it a tight game, but 17 turnovers leading to 26 points for the Suns undermined that effort.

Aside from the turnovers, the Suns had the decided advantage on the interior, winning points in the paint 52-36 and owning the edge 14-9 on second-chance opportunities.

The Nuggets had a chance to make a dent in the third quarter, at one point getting to within eight, but Oubre banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Suns an 81-69 lead heading into the fourth.

The Nuggets’ interior defense wasn’t as stout as it needed to be after giving up 72 points in the paint in their most recent meeting, a 122-118 win.

Barton was understandably tentative over his first few possessions but eventually sunk a 3-pointer from the corner followed by another elbow jumper for his first points in nearly three months.

The excitement was slightly mitigated by Gary Harris ’ third missed game in a row due to hamstring tightness.
