Marquette 74, UW 69 (OT): Golden Eagles win tense battle

Junior guard Markus Howard scored 27 points as Marquette was able to hold off Wisconsin, 74-69, in overtime at Fiserv Forum on Saturday.

Ed Morrow Jr. hit a big layup after an offensive rebound that gave MU a 69-65 lead with 2:07 left in overtime.

The Golden Eagles' Sam Hauser made one of two free throws with 1:49 left and the stage was set for a tense finish to regulation.

Howard started the game shooting 2 for 11, but hit his final two shots and sank all six of his free throws to score 15 points in the first 20 minutes.

Sophomore forward Aleem Ford, however, came off the bench to score eight points, including 2 three-pointers, for the Badgers in the opening first half.
